How the MCQ Shuffler works
- Paste your question bank — one blank line between questions, lettered options, and a * marking the correct one on each question.
- Choose how many versions you need and whether question order shuffles too, or only the options within each question.
- Click "Shuffle into versions" and switch between the version tabs to review each paper and its answer key.
- Copy the version you need, or download all versions and a combined answer-key file together.
FAQ
How do I mark the correct answer?
Add a * anywhere in that option's line — at the start, at the end, or right after the letter. MCQ Shuffler reads it as the correct answer and strips it out of the versions it generates, so students never see it.
Why keep the correct-answer distribution even?
Because a version where C is correct twelve times out of thirty rewards guessing patterns. MCQ Shuffler spreads the correct letter as evenly as possible across every version it generates, not just per question.
Which options get left in place automatically?
"All of the above", "none of the above", and any option set that's already a plain ascending number sequence (like 4, 9, 15, 17) are detected automatically and kept at their original position — you don't need to mark them yourself.
Does shuffling actually reduce copying?
It reduces casual over-the-shoulder copying, since the neighbour's answer letters differ. It does nothing about prepared cheating, so treat it as one measure among several.
