Expected due date
—
How it works
- Choose the species and enter the breeding or conception date.
- The calculator adds that species' average gestation length to the breeding date.
- It shows the expected due date, a typical early/late window, and how many days remain from today.
The formula
Due date = Breeding date + Average gestation length (days)
Example: a cow bred on March 1st (283-day average gestation) is due around December 9th, with a typical window of roughly ± 10 days either side.
FAQ
How accurate is the due date?
It's a point estimate based on published average gestation lengths (e.g. 283 days for cattle, 340 for horses, 114 for pigs). Actual gestation varies by breed, individual animal, and litter size, which is why the widget also shows a typical ± day window rather than a single guaranteed date.
Which animals are supported?
Cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, llamas, donkeys, rabbits, dogs, and cats, each with their own average gestation length and variability range built in.
Can I use the date I confirmed pregnancy instead of the breeding date?
Enter the actual breeding or conception date if you know it — that's what the gestation length is measured from. If you only have a confirmed-pregnant date from a vet check, ask them for the estimated conception date instead, since pregnancy is usually confirmed weeks after conception.

A gestation chart on the barn wall gets you the same average — this just does the date arithmetic instantly and adds the typical early/late range so you know when to start watching closely.
