How to count business days
- Select the start and end dates and whether each boundary is included.
- Choose the weekend pattern and add any holidays to exclude.
- Review business, calendar, weekend, and holiday counts.
Counting method
The calculator visits each included calendar date once. Weekend dates are removed first, followed by listed holidays that fall on remaining working days. Every other date contributes one business day.
FAQ
Are the start and end dates counted?
Both are counted by default. Clear either inclusion checkbox when that boundary should not contribute to the result.
Can I use a Friday–Saturday weekend?
Yes. Choose Friday and Saturday, Saturday and Sunday, or a single Saturday or Sunday weekend.
How should holidays be entered?
Enter one ISO date per line using YYYY-MM-DD. Commas and spaces are also accepted between dates.
What if a holiday falls on a weekend?
It is counted as a weekend day, not again as an excluded holiday, so the categories do not double-count the date.
Are national holidays included automatically?
No. Holiday calendars vary by country, region, and employer. Add the exact dates relevant to your schedule.
