Calendar and elapsed methods
The calendar result borrows across real month boundaries to express whole years, months, and remaining days. Total days uses the UTC-midnight difference, avoiding daylight-saving distortions. Weekend-free weekdays are also shown, but public holidays are not inferred.
FAQ
Does the calculation include the end date?
Not by default. Select Include end date when both boundary dates should count, such as for an event lasting from the 1st through the 4th.
Why is a calendar difference different from total days?
Calendar years and months have varying lengths. The calendar result advances whole years and months first, while total days measures the absolute elapsed span.
Are leap years handled?
Yes. The calculation uses actual calendar dates, including February 29 in leap years.
Do weekdays exclude holidays?
No. Weekdays exclude Saturdays and Sundays only. Use the Business Days Calculator when you need custom holiday exclusions.
Does time zone affect the result?
No. Date values are normalized to UTC midnight so daylight-saving transitions do not add or remove an hour.
