Why might microphone audio be missing?

Can I save the recording as MP4 instead of WebM?
Not directly. The recorder downloads a WebM file because that's the browser's native MediaRecorder output. If you need MP4, convert the downloaded file afterward with a tool like VLC or an online converter.
