FAQ
Does this re-encode the video, or lose any quality?
No — the video stream is copied as-is without re-encoding, only the audio track is dropped. Since there's no re-encoding step, the video quality is identical to the original and the process is fast.
What if my video has no audio track at all?
The tool still works and produces a video-only file — there's just nothing to remove, so the output is effectively the same as the input.
Why might it fail on some files?
A handful of unusual video/container combinations can't have their audio dropped without at least a partial re-encode — if that happens, try converting the video to MP4 first with our Video Converter, then mute the result.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Audio removal runs entirely in your browser using a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg — the file is never sent to Online Tool Store or any other server.
