FAQ
How is this different from the GIF Maker tool?
GIF Maker produces a looping GIF using a lightweight in-browser encoder — great for short animations. Timelapse Maker produces a real MP4 video using the same engine as the site's other video tools, better suited for longer sequences of many photos with smooth playback and smaller file size.
How many photos can I use?
There's no hard cap, but since everything runs in your browser, very large batches (hundreds of high-resolution photos) will take longer to encode and use more memory — start with a smaller batch if your browser struggles.
What frame rate should I pick?
12–24 fps is typical for a smooth-looking timelapse. Lower frame rates make each photo more visible for longer; higher frame rates compress more photos into a shorter, snappier video.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No — everything runs in a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg loaded and executed entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
