How the subtitle burner works

- Click Burn subtitles — the video plays through while each frame, with the currently-active subtitle drawn on top, is captured to a canvas.

How subtitle timing is matched
Each .srt cue has a start and end timestamp. As the video plays, the tool checks the video's current playback time against every cue's time range and draws whichever subtitle (if any) is currently active directly onto the frame — permanently "burning" it into the picture, rather than keeping it as a separate, toggleable track.
FAQ
Why doesn't the output video have sound?
The subtitled video is created by re-recording a canvas showing each frame with the current subtitle drawn on top — a canvas recording only captures video, not audio, so the result is silent. Re-mix it with the original audio in a video editor if you need sound.
What subtitle format does this accept?
Standard .srt files — the widely-supported plain-text subtitle format with numbered cues, timestamps in HH:MM:SS,mmm format, and the subtitle text for each cue.
Why does rendering take as long as the video's length?
The video plays through in real time while each frame (with its subtitle) is captured, since that's how canvas-based video recording works in the browser — a 3-minute video takes about 3 minutes to render.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Both the video and subtitle file are processed entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to Online Tool Store or any other server.
