Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is opened and rendered entirely in your browser using pdf.js — nothing is ever sent anywhere.
Why would I want a transparent background instead of white?
If the PDF page itself contains transparent regions (common in vector art or logo exports), enabling "Keep transparent background" preserves them in the PNG instead of painting them white first — useful when you want to drop the image onto another background later.
Does this work with password-protected PDFs?
Not directly — pdf.js can't render a page it can't decrypt. Remove the password first (in a PDF viewer, or a password-removal tool) and then convert.
What image size should I pick?
Screen (72 DPI) is smallest and fine for on-screen use; Standard (144 DPI) is a good default; Print (216 DPI) or Large (288 DPI) produce sharper, larger files for printing or zooming in.
Is there a page limit?
No hard limit — every page is rendered on your device, so very large PDFs (hundreds of pages) will simply take longer and use more memory, bounded by your browser.
