How YouTube Playlist Length Calculator works

  1. Enter the number of videos in the playlist and the average video length (minutes, or mm:ss like 8:30).
  2. Add any break time per video and one-time playlist bonus time, then pick a playback speed.
  3. The total runtime, the speed-adjusted runtime, and the average time per video update instantly.
  4. Optionally set a daily watch budget to see how many days it will take to finish.

The formula

Total = (videos × average length) + (videos × break time) + bonus time, then divided by playback speed

Days to finish is the speed-adjusted total divided by your daily budget, rounded up to a whole day.

FAQ

Does it use real video durations?

No. This is a planning estimate based on the average length and counts you enter, not an actual playlist import.

Why can't I just paste a playlist link?

Reading real durations from a playlist requires calling YouTube's API, which means an API key, a quota limit, and a network request per video. This calculator stays instant, free, and fully local by working from your own estimates instead.

Can it show watch time at a faster playback speed?

Yes. Choose 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, or 2x and the total and per-video figures adjust automatically.

Can it estimate binge-watch time or a study plan?

Yes. Set a daily watch budget to see how many days the playlist will take at your own pace, which is useful for a viewing session, curated series, or a course.

URL-based tools read real durations from a public playlist, which is more precise for an existing list. This calculator trades that for instant, offline, no-API-key planning when you're estimating a playlist before it exists or don't want to hand over a key.
