How to convert voltage units

  1. Enter the voltage measurement you want to convert.
  2. Select its current unit, from microvolts through megavolts.
  3. Read the equivalent value in every supported voltage unit instantly.

The conversion method

Each input is first converted to volts using its SI prefix factor, then divided by the target unit’s factor. Micro means 10−6, milli means 10−3, kilo means 103, and mega means 106. Therefore, target value = input value × source factor ÷ target factor.

Example: the prefilled 1 volt equals 1,000,000 microvolts, 1,000 millivolts, 0.001 kilovolts, and 0.000001 megavolts.

FAQ

How many millivolts are in one volt?

One volt equals 1,000 millivolts. A millivolt is one-thousandth of a volt, so multiply volts by 1,000.

How many volts are in one kilovolt?

One kilovolt equals 1,000 volts. Multiply kilovolts by 1,000 to convert the measurement to volts.

What is a microvolt?

A microvolt is one-millionth of a volt. One volt equals 1,000,000 microvolts, and 1,000 microvolts equal one millivolt.

Does this calculate electrical power or current?

No. It converts electric potential units only. Calculating power, current, or resistance requires additional values and formulas such as Ohm’s law.

Are the measurements uploaded or stored?

No. Every conversion is calculated locally in your browser, and the values you enter are not uploaded to Online Tool Store.
