Reward economics
A regular viewer watching two full streams a week earns roughly 3,000 points weekly. A 5,000-point reward is therefore fortnightly for them and monthly for a casual viewer.
How the Channel Points Reward Planner works
- Enter your typical stream length and how often you stream, which set the earning rate.
- Set the target redemption frequency for each reward, then read the point cost that produces it.
- Sanity check the highest-tier rewards. A reward nobody can reach in a month is decoration, not an incentive.
The method
Viewers earn points per unit of watch time, with bonuses for following, subscribing and participating in raids.
weekly points = hours watched x earn rate x multipliers
A subscriber's multiplier means the same reward is reachable far more often for them, which is worth planning for rather than discovering.
FAQ
How should reward costs be set?
Backwards from how often you want each redeemed. Decide it should happen weekly, monthly or rarely, then price it against what a typical viewer of yours earns in that period.
Why do subscribers matter to the pricing?
Because they earn at a higher rate. A reward priced for a casual viewer is redeemable several times as often by subscribers, which is fine if intended and a problem if not.
Should every reward be expensive?
No. A mix works better — cheap frequent rewards keep people engaged, and one genuinely expensive reward gives regulars something to save for. All-expensive means nobody redeems anything.
