How Text to Columns works

Paste your delimited text and use Auto-detect or choose a separator, including a custom delimiter.
Set the header and trim options, then inspect Aligned text or Table view.
Copy the output or download it: aligned view saves text, and table view saves CSV.

Which delimiters can I use?

Choose comma, tab, semicolon, pipe, space, or a custom delimiter. Auto-detect checks common separators in the pasted lines.

Can I export the columns as CSV?

Yes. Select Table view and click Download for CSV. Aligned text view downloads a text file; copying Table view produces tab-separated text.

Can I keep a header row and trim spaces?

Yes. Separate checkboxes control whether the first row is treated as a header and whether surrounding cell whitespace is removed.

Does it support CSV fields containing line breaks?

No. Input is split into lines before fields are parsed. Quoted fields containing embedded line breaks are not supported.
