How many taps do I need for an accurate reading?

More taps average out timing variation — 8 to 12 steady taps give a reliable reading, though the BPM updates from just 2 taps onward.

Why did my BPM reset unexpectedly?

A pause of more than 2 seconds between taps starts a fresh session, on the assumption you stopped and are starting a new tempo.

Is my tapping data uploaded anywhere?

No — timing is measured locally using your browser's high-resolution clock.

Can this analyze the BPM of a song I upload?

No — this tool only measures the tempo of your own tapping, not an audio file. For a song, tap along with it while it plays.
