How the export works
The selected section is decoded into raw audio samples using the Web Audio API, optionally scaled down near the start and end to create a smooth fade, then packaged into a standard uncompressed WAV file byte-for-byte in your browser — no server-side audio processing involved.
FAQ
Why does it export a WAV file, not MP3 or M4R?
WAV can be encoded directly in the browser without a heavy conversion engine, and Android phones accept WAV files as custom ringtones and notification sounds directly. iPhone’s Ringtones app specifically requires the M4R format — run the WAV this tool produces through our M4R Converter to finish the job.
Is there a maximum ringtone length?
This tool doesn’t enforce one, but most phones cap custom ringtones at 30-40 seconds — a note appears if your selection goes longer than that as a heads-up.
Why use fade in and fade out?
A ringtone that starts or ends abruptly mid-beat can sound jarring, especially if the cut point lands in the middle of a loud note. A short fade smooths the start and end so the clip loops or plays more naturally.
Is my song uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding, trimming, and fading are all done using the Web Audio API directly in your browser — the audio file is never sent to Online Tool Store or any other server.
