How the reading list tracker works
- Add a book title, optional author, and optional page count.
- Track its status (to read, reading, finished) and drag the progress slider - pages read update automatically if you added a page count.
- Rate finished books from one to five stars.
- Your list is grouped by status and saved locally, persisting between visits on this device.
- Use Export backup and Import backup to move your list to another browser or device.
FAQ
Where is my reading list saved?
Entirely in your browser's local storage - nothing is sent to a server or account. It stays on this device and this browser only.
Will my list still be there if I close the tab?
Yes - local storage persists across browser sessions on the same device and browser, until you clear your browsing data or remove the books yourself.
Can I access my list from another device?
Not automatically - it's stored locally in this browser only. Select Export backup to download a JSON file of your list, then use Import backup in another browser or device to bring it over.
How do I update my reading progress?
Drag the progress slider on any book to update how far along you are, and use the status dropdown to mark it as to-read, reading, or finished. Add a page count when you create a book to see pages read alongside the percentage.
Can I rate books?
Yes - select up to five stars on any book. Selecting the same star again clears the rating.
What happens if I import an invalid file?
Import backup checks that the file is a valid reading list backup before changing anything. If it isn't, you'll see an error message and your existing list is left untouched.
