Why does a field show "Not set"?
PDF metadata fields (title, author, subject, keywords) are optional — many PDFs, especially ones exported quickly from an app, simply never had them filled in. "Not set" means the field is genuinely empty in the file, not a reading error.
What's the difference between Creator and Producer?
Creator is typically the original application that made the document (like a word processor), while Producer is the tool that generated the actual PDF file (like a PDF export library) — they're often different pieces of software in the same workflow.
Can I use this to check if a PDF has been edited?
It can be a clue — comparing the Created and Modified dates, or noticing a Producer field that doesn't match the document's apparent origin, can suggest a PDF was edited after its original creation. It's not conclusive proof on its own.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
