FAQ
What are these properties actually used for?
Title, Author, and Subject often show up in a PDF reader's tab title or document panel, and can influence how a shared file is described in link previews. Keywords and Creator/Producer are less visible but sometimes read by document management systems and search indexing.
Does clearing the fields remove all identifying information?
It clears the standard metadata fields shown here, but a PDF can carry other embedded information too (fonts, XMP metadata, revision history) that this tool doesn't touch. For a document you need fully scrubbed, use a dedicated redaction tool as well.
Why is there both a Creator and a Producer field?
Creator is typically the original authoring application (e.g. "Microsoft Word"), while Producer is the tool that generated the final PDF file (e.g. a PDF export library). They're often different, and both can be edited independently here.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No — metadata is read and rewritten entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device.
