How the conversion works
Every unit has a fixed conversion factor to square meters. Converting between any two units is a two-step multiplication through that common base:
Result = Amount × (Source unit's m² factor) ÷ (Target unit's m² factor)
Example: 1 perch (25.29 m²) converted to square feet is 25.29 ÷ 0.0929 ≈ 272.25 sq ft.

Why do regional units vary by source?
Units like bigha, katha, and kanal historically varied by district and were only standardized more recently, so different regions and even different older land records can use slightly different areas for the same unit name. This tool uses the commonly cited standardized value for each unit; always confirm against local land registry figures for a legal transaction.
Can I convert directly between two regional units?
