How names are built
Human and Halfling names are drawn from curated first-name and last-name lists and combined, similar to how a real name generator works. The other races — Elf, Orc, Dwarf, Dragonkin, Demon, and Goblin — are built from a prefix and a suffix drawn from a syllable bank tuned to that race's sound: soft and flowing for elves, harsh and guttural for orcs and demons, and so on. An optional epithet is appended from a per-race list of titles.

What races can I generate names for?
Elf, Orc, Dwarf, Human, Halfling, Dragonkin, Demon, and Goblin — each with its own set of sounds, so an orc name reads harsh and guttural while an elf name reads soft and flowing.
What is the "epithet" option?
A short title or nickname added after the name, like "the Bloodfang" or "of the Silver Vale" — common in fantasy fiction and RPGs for memorable NPCs or legendary characters. Turn it off for a plain name.
Can I get more than 20 names at once?
Not from the dropdown, but you can click Generate names again as many times as you like — each click makes a fresh batch, and nothing about a previous batch is remembered or limited.
Will I ever get the exact same name twice?
Not within one generated batch — each batch is deduplicated. Across separate batches, sure — the pool of sound combinations per race is large but finite, so a repeat is possible if you generate a lot of names.
Are these names copyrighted or tied to a specific game?
No. Every name is assembled from generic fantasy syllable patterns and common naming conventions, not lifted from any book, game, or setting — free to use in your own writing, tabletop campaign, or project.
