How EPUB reading works
An EPUB is a ZIP-based package containing HTML chapters, styles, images, metadata, and a navigation document. A browser reader unpacks that structure locally, follows the book’s spine order, and lays out each chapter as reflowable content. Changing the reader width or font size therefore changes pagination without rewriting the original book.

Are EPUB files uploaded anywhere?
No. The reading workspace is designed for local browser processing, so a selected book does not need to be sent to a server or stored in an account.
Can the reader open DRM-protected ebooks?
DRM-protected books require authorization from the store or reading app that sold them. This interface is intended for standard, unencrypted EPUB files you own or are allowed to read.
Will every EPUB look exactly like the printed book?
EPUB is a reflowable format, so text adapts to the available width and font size. Fixed-layout books and complex interactive content can require specialized rendering support.
What do the theme and font controls change?
The controls adjust the reading surface and text size without changing the book file. Paper, sepia, and night themes support different lighting preferences.
Does the sample progress belong to my book?
No. The first screen contains a worked example so the complete reading layout is visible before a file is chosen. A connected local EPUB engine would replace it with the selected book and its real navigation data.
