How it works
- Choose Classic Studio, Eighties Machine, or Electro Club.
- Tap the nine pads or use the A-L keyboard shortcuts to play.
- Place hits on the 16-step grid, then adjust BPM and swing for the groove you want.
- Press Play pattern to loop your beat, or use Randomize and Clear to quickly try new ideas.
How the sounds are made
Each hit combines short oscillators and filtered noise. A kick sweeps a sine wave from high to low frequency, a snare layers noise with a short triangle tone, and cymbals use bright high-pass-filtered noise. Gain envelopes make every sound decay like a struck drum.
FAQ
Does the Drum Pad need audio files or a download?
No. The sounds are synthesized on demand with the Web Audio API, so there is no kit download and nothing is uploaded.
Which keyboard keys play the pads?
Use A through L: A is kick, S is snare, D and F are hi-hats, G is clap, H is tom, J is crash, K is rim, and L is cowbell.
Why do I need to click before sound starts?
Browsers require a user interaction before a page can produce audio. Your first pad press or click on the sample beat unlocks sound for this tab.
Can I create a repeating beat?
Yes. Use the 16-step sequencer to place hits for each drum sound, adjust BPM and swing, then play the pattern in a loop. The Clear and Randomize buttons help you start over or find an idea quickly.
Can I export or download my beat as an audio file?
Not currently. The pattern sequencer loops live in your browser for practice and idea generation, but there is no WAV or MP3 export.
Does it support a MIDI controller?
No. Drum Pad is played with the on-screen pads, touch, or the A-L keyboard shortcuts, not an external MIDI device.
