Risk factors
Age 48, BMI 29.4, waist 98 cm, a parent with type 2 diabetes and limited weekly activity — several modifiable factors present, most notably waist measurement and activity.
How the Diabetes Risk Score works
- Enter age, BMI, and waist measurement — waist matters independently of BMI because central fat is the stronger signal.
- Add activity level and family history.
- Take the modifiable factors to a clinician and ask for a blood test; a questionnaire cannot diagnose anything.
The method
Risk questionnaires weight a handful of factors that predict type 2 diabetes in population studies, and central adiposity carries more weight than overall BMI.
risk points = age band + BMI band + waist band + activity + family history + diet
Two people with the same BMI can differ substantially in risk if one carries the weight centrally — which is why waist is asked for separately.
FAQ
Can this diagnose diabetes?
No. Only a blood test — fasting glucose, HbA1c, or a glucose tolerance test — can. A questionnaire identifies who should have that test.
Which factors can actually be changed?
Weight, waist, activity, and diet. Age, ethnicity, and family history cannot, but they raise how much the modifiable ones matter.
Is my information stored?
No. Everything entered stays in the page and nothing is transmitted.

Diabetes Risk Score is an awareness tool that points toward a blood test — no questionnaire, however well validated, can diagnose diabetes.
