How it works
- Choose a format: Desert Island Discs (eight recordings, one book, one luxury), a mixed media set, your top eight in one category, three survival items, or a custom count.
- Optionally add your name, keep idea prompts on for a hint in every empty slot, and switch on a random twist rule.

What is a desert island picks generator?
It is a worksheet builder for the party and icebreaker game where you name what you would take to a desert island. Choose a format, get idea prompts for each slot, type your picks, then copy, download or print the finished list.
How does Desert Island Discs work?
On the BBC radio show, which has run since 1942, the castaway picks eight recordings, one book and one luxury item. They already have the Complete Works of Shakespeare and the Bible (or another religious or philosophical work), so they choose one more book. The luxury must be inanimate and no help escaping the island. At the end they name the single recording they would save above the rest. The default format here follows those rules.
What are good desert island picks?
There is no right answer, which is the point. Turn on idea prompts and each empty slot suggests an angle, such as a song you know every word of, a book you have reread, or a luxury that is useless but joyful. Use "Fill blanks" to drop the prompts in as a starting point and edit from there.
Can I use this as a group icebreaker?
Yes. Pick the "Top 8 in one category" or "Three items to survive" format, share the prompt on screen, and have everyone name one pick at a time. The optional twist rule adds a constraint to keep rounds interesting.
Does this run in my browser?
