How Crochet Stitch Counter works
- Paste or type your pattern instructions into the note field so they're visible while you work.
- Tap "+1 stitch" each time you complete a stitch — the count increments instantly, no typing required.
- Tap "+1 row" when you finish a row or round — this both advances the row counter and resets the stitch counter to zero for the new row.
- Use the − buttons to correct a miscount, or the reset links to start a counter over from scratch.
FAQ
Why does adding a row reset the stitch count?
Stitch counts are almost always tracked within a single row or round in a pattern — once you move to the next row, you start counting stitches from zero again, so the counter mirrors that and resets automatically when you tap "+1 row."
Will my counts still be here if I refresh the page?
No — counts are kept only in the page's memory for the current tab, with no server or local storage involved, so a refresh or closed tab resets everything to zero. This is by design: nothing about your project is ever saved or uploaded.
Can I use this for knitting as well as crochet?
Yes — the counter itself is stitch-and-row agnostic. The pattern note field is a plain text box, so you can paste a knitting pattern's row instructions there just as easily as a crochet round count.
