How it works

  1. Start from a classic IBA recipe or build a custom one by adding ingredient rows with an amount and unit.
  2. Choose whether to scale by number of servings or by a target total volume (useful for filling a specific bottle).
  3. Pick a dilution level — stirred (~20%) and shaken (~25%) are commonly cited ranges for ice-melt water, or set a custom percentage, or none.
  4. Review the scaled amount for each ingredient, the total batch volume, how much water that includes, and an estimated bottle count.

FAQ

Where do the classic recipe ratios come from?

The Negroni, Daiquiri, Margarita, Old Fashioned, Whiskey Sour, and Manhattan presets use the International Bartenders Association (IBA) official measures — the closest thing the industry has to a standard reference.

What does the dilution percentage mean?

It's the water from melting ice, expressed as a share of the final drink's total volume — not a percentage added on top. Stirred drinks typically dilute to around 20%, shaken drinks to around 25%, though both vary with technique and ice.

Should I scale by servings or by target volume?

Use servings when you know how many drinks you're making — a party of 12, for example. Use target volume when you're filling a specific container, like a 1-liter bottle for a batched cocktail.

Why does a bigger batch need water added?

A single stirred or shaken drink gets its dilution from the ice in the glass or shaker. When you batch a cocktail ahead of time without shaking or stirring each glass individually, you add that same water directly so the batch tastes the way the drink is meant to.

Can I build my own recipe instead of using a preset?

Yes — choose "Custom recipe," then add, edit, or remove ingredient rows with any name, amount, and unit (oz, ml, cl, tsp, tbsp, or dash).
