Log summary
Seven days, twice daily: morning average 132/84, evening average 126/80. Two readings taken immediately after activity are excluded from the averages.
How the Blood Pressure Log works
- Take readings after sitting quietly for five minutes, arm supported at heart height, feet flat.
- Record two readings a minute apart and log both; single readings vary more than people expect.
- Log for at least seven days before drawing conclusions, and bring the averages rather than the individual numbers to an appointment.
FAQ
Why does a single reading tell you so little?
Blood pressure varies substantially through the day and rises with stress, activity, caffeine and even the act of being measured. A week of consistent readings is far more informative than any one number.
What is white coat hypertension?
Readings that are higher in a clinical setting than at home, common enough that home monitoring is often specifically requested. It is a real effect, not nervousness to be dismissed, and it is why home logs are useful.
What do the numbers mean?
Thresholds and targets vary by guideline, age and individual circumstances, and interpreting them is a clinical judgement. Bring the log to a doctor rather than comparing against a chart online.
How we compare

Blood Pressure Log reports averages with context, because a single reading taken at the wrong moment is the least useful number in the record.
