This is a receipt, not a tax invoice. A compliant VAT or sales-tax invoice needs specific fields — registration numbers, the correct legal wording, sometimes sequential numbering you can prove — and the requirements differ by country. Use this for a simple record of payment received and check with your accountant before relying on it for a tax filing. Everything stays in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and no copy is kept.
How to use it
- Fill in who paid, who was paid, and the receipt number and date.
- List the items with quantities and unit prices.
- Set the tax rate, and how it should be rounded.
- Download the PDF — it is built in the page and saved straight to your device.
FAQ
Is this a valid tax invoice?
No — it is a receipt, a record that payment was made. A compliant VAT or sales-tax invoice needs specific fields such as registration numbers and particular legal wording, and the rules differ by country. Use this for a simple proof of payment and check with an accountant before relying on it for a filing.
Why does the tax total change when I switch the rounding option?
Because rounding each line and rounding once on the subtotal genuinely give different answers. Three items at 0.99 with 8.25% tax come to 0.24 rounded per line and 0.25 rounded on the total. Across all three-item baskets built from a handful of common prices, the two conventions disagreed in 250 cases out of 512 — so it is the normal case, not an edge case.
Which rounding should I use?
Rounding once on the subtotal is the more common default and what most invoicing software does. Some jurisdictions and some accounting systems require per-line rounding, particularly where different lines carry different rates. If a figure has to match another system exactly, match its convention.
Why can I not use a rupee or yen symbol?
Because the fonts built into the PDF format cover only the WinAnsi character set, which excludes ₹, ₩ and most non-Latin text. Rather than producing a broken file or dropping characters silently, the tool tells you which ones it cannot write. Embedding a full Unicode font would work but would add a megabyte or more to a page that currently loads instantly.
Is my customer data uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is assembled in your browser and saved straight to your device. Nothing is sent to a server and no copy is kept — which matters given that the fields here are a named person and an amount they paid you.
Can I add my logo?
Not in this tool. It produces a clean typographic receipt with no image handling, which keeps it fast and predictable. If you need branding, generate the PDF here and add the logo in a PDF editor, or use proper invoicing software.

Right for a one-off receipt where you would rather not hand a customer's name and payment to a website. It keeps no records at all, which is the point and also the limit — if you issue receipts regularly you need software that numbers them and keeps the trail.
